My Story
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN DOING WHAT YOU DO, AND HOW DID YOU BECOME A HOLISTIC NUTRITION COACH?
To answer this question, it's probably best that I share with you a defining moment, and a resulting "compelling story," that brought me to where I am today – coaching people like you on exactly what to do to feel empowered about your health & excited about the future. That defining moment in my life happened in June 2013.
Since I was a teenager, I had struggled with my weight. I was always the girl with a "little extra padding" around my waist. I felt self-conscious about my body, I looked around, and other girls my age were not having the same struggles with their weight. I never felt comfortable in my own skin or felt like I fit in. My low self-esteem held me back from trying new things or chasing opportunities, and I missed out on quite a few life experiences.
After the birth of my second son, I had a flare up of pain in my hands - it became so painful I could barely sleep. I had swelling in my hands and wrists, and then eventually my feet started having similar issues. My knuckles and joints were inflamed, and my skin would feel hot. I went to the doctor to find out what was happening. I was referred to a rheumatologist, where I ended up getting diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. I was upset about it at first and dove into researching solutions for myself. Even though I felt emotional about the situation, I wanted to be proactive about it. The doctors prescribed medications at first, but the medication was not effective for remission. They caused horrible side effects. I lost all of my energy and ended up with severe vertigo. I was no longer functioning well, and the only solution my doctors provided with me were stronger medications.
I finally said no, I wanted to have a quality of life I could enjoy. I was sick of feeling frustrated over the lack of options over my health, and my doctor was just treating everything with pills. I was too young to be on medication for the rest of my life. My intuition told me that there were other options available. It was nauseating thinking the only way out of my pain was a pill or injections. I decided to find my own solutions to changing my health and taking back authority over my body. I stopped taking the medications and stopped seeing the doctor that kept invalidating my suggestions for alternative holistic approaches to my remission.
I researched a variety of anti-inflammatory options for diet and health. I began a detox program, and it took the inflammation away. I then went on a program that balanced my hormones and helped me lose weight. A part of me was mad that I didn’t do this years ago. I wasn’t surprised that my holistic approaches were effective. Then I started to feel proud of myself that I took charge of my own health. I changed the right things and created a sustainable lifestyle that supports my recovery. It wasn’t easy, I had to give up a lot of things I enjoyed. However it meant a better life for myself, and I was able to find alternatives to replace the things I missed in my diet and lifestyle. As a result, I felt more energetic and had more stamina to do the daily life routines. I was more emotionally stable and had more mental focus to tackle stress. I was enjoying life again. My relationships with my children were more satisfying since I finally had the energy to keep up with them! I began to re-engage back into my personal relationships as well.
Now I've dedicated my life to helping others live pain-free, reduce inflammation, and live comfortably. My clients will feel more energetic, have a life they enjoy, and balance hormones for sustainable health. I specialize in helping people with autoimmune diseases, and those struggling with their weight. However, anyone can benefit from improved diet and lifestyle, so anyone struggling with their health can experience immediate benefits with my program.
As I continued to work on my past struggles and started teaching my clients how they can do the same, I watched their confidence soar as their health improved too! I have since made a commitment to dedicate the rest of my professional life to helping other women who struggle the same as I did regain a sense of balance, inside and out, to feel empowered & excited about their future.
In the last few years I’ve worked with many private clients, spoken in front of countless groups, I lived my dream of guiding my clients to healing themselves and rediscovering their zest for life once again, I have created Whole - Body & Mind, a series of 9 important inner and outer healing building block steps that every person with health concerns needs to apply to optimize their health and wellbeing.
My Financial Wellness Story
During the last few months of 2020 and early 2021 I realized that a huge financial shift was taking place in our economy. Hustling hard in my coaching biz left me feeling like I needed to have my money work for me, and what better way to do that than to start learning how to invest. In just a few short months I have discovered a way for me to secure myself financially by tapping into financial education, education that was, until recently, only available to the elite. My life is being a health, wellness & financial success coach, helping and empowering others to feel their absolute best and live the life the way they want with the people they love has been AMAZING.
But working in the online space isn't my only gig.
I'm a single mom to two beautiful boys. My oldest son being autistic definitely has its challenges but none that we can't handle. My children are my world and I strive to show them that anything is possible.
We live in one of the most beautiful areas in the world, near the Canadian Rockies and it is amazing and inspiring. Before I really started on this holistic health journey, I struggled to find the energy to go for hikes and enjoy the outdoors. I love the feeling of accomplishment after a long hike and I'm happy to be able to do that again. I truly enjoy going and enjoying our beautiful scenery while working on my own health and well-being.
